Check the task first

A wall sit holds a position instead of rising from a chair. Get individual advice if symptoms, injury or a health condition affect exercise. This is strength practice, not treatment.

Prepare the support

Use a solid clear wall and a floor with reliable grip. Put feet about hip width apart and ahead of you. Check the home space before leaning back.

Choose your depth

Keep your back against the wall and slide down slowly, with knees above ankles. The Illinois demonstration shows the setup. The Cleveland Clinic guide describes a shallower beginner option. A horizontal thigh position is not compulsory.

Leave with control

Keep breathing during a brief manageable hold, then slide back up before control fades. Do not chase a fixed time. Stop for pain, dizziness or slipping; seek advice for persistent symptoms. Rest before another attempt.

Record the same setup

Note depth, comfort and whether your feet stayed secure. Change only one challenge at a time. The quiet circuit offers other movements; Fitonomy supports planning. One hold is not a complete workout or a guaranteed result.
